The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is an international nonprofit professional association that began in 1964 as a forum for the exchange of technical and operational information, who’s membership includes executives, scientists, engineers, managers, operators & technicians, educators, and military personnel.
The name “crow” emerged from the first large-scale use of Electronic Warfare during the WWII Battle of Britain and the U.S./Allied bombing raids over Europe. The Radar Countermeasure operators used the code name “ravens” and employed receivers and transmitters to monitor and jam threat frequencies. Military jargon later changed “ravens” to “crows.”
With over 14,000 members internationally, the AOC is comprised of individuals and organizations involved in Electronic Warfare (EW), Electromagnetic Spectrum Management Operations (EMSO), Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), Information Operations (IO), and related communities.

The AOC is a professional organization that promotes information superiority to maintain national security by providing:
- Awareness to the general public, members and government agencies
- Studies and analysis to support national defense issues
- Scholarships to students seeking a career in Electronic Defense
- Recognition of members accomplishments through awards
- Sponsorship of trade shows and exhibits
- Hosting professional educational events
The Electronic Defense Systems that AOC members have designed, built and delivered, over the course of five decades, have saved innumerable lives. It is our duty, honor and commitment to continue this tradition into the future. Only through the individual contributions and commitment of each member and the activities of the local chapters can our role and leadership in this most important mission area continue. The AOC is an investment in continuing professional education and an investment in the national defense.
The Windy City Chapter represents the AOC in the Central Region. Membership start at only $75/year which covers both National Membership Fee and Local dues.
